To the victors go the spoils.
Wahama clinched its second straight TVC Hocking Division championship in football this fall, which is why the White Falcons had eight of the Ohio Valley Publishing area’s 21 selections on the 2011 All-TVC teams as selected by the coaches within the respective leagues.
Wahama (8-0) improved to 16-0 alltime in TVC Hocking play, and as a result the Red and White came away with all three top honors in their division. Ed Cromley was named coach of the year for a second consecutive season, while senior Isaac Lee was named the offensive MVP and junior Zach Wamsley was selected as the defensive MVP.
Seniors Jamin Branch, Anthony Grimm, Colton McKinney, Matt Stewart and Zac Warth were also selected to the All-TVC Hocking squad for the White Falcons, who own a 21-game regular season winning streak headed into next fall.
Playoff qualifier South Gallia (6-2) had five representatives on the all-league squad after finishing third in the TVC Hocking this fall. Seniors Danny Matney, Dalton Matney, Cory Haner and Jesse Fisher were all named to the squad for the Rebels, as was sophomore Jacob White.
Eastern (3-5) and Southern (2-6) both had two representatives after placing sixth and seventh, respectively, in the nine-team division. Senior Tyler Cline and junior Max Carnahan were the Eagle honorees, while senior Ryan Taylor and sophomore Tyler Barton were selected for the Tornadoes.
Meigs had four selections in the TVC Ohio Division after finishing in a three-way tie for third place with Alexander and Wellston. The Marauders (2-3) were represented by seniors Charlie Barrett, Jeffrey Roush, Blake Crow and Zach Sayre on the list.
Athens (5-0) won the TVC Ohio title this year, which allowed Ryan Adams to win coach of the year honors for AHS. Seniors DeVon Sharp (Athens) and Dustin Young (Nels-York) shared offensive MVP honors, while senior Mitch Rider (AHS) was selected as the defensive MVP.
