POINT PLEASANT —At Tuesday’s meeting of the Mason County School Board, members approved the following personnel and business items.

Service personnel:

Approved the resignation of Clifford Hart, custodian, New Haven Elementary, effective February 6, 2012. Approved the transfer of Julie McWilliams, Custodian III/2, Wahama Jr/Sr High School, to Custodian III/2, 220 days, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-825-C, effective February 16, 2012. County will be the funding source. Approved the transfer of Tammy Watterson, Cook III, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, to Cook III, Ashton Elementary (until regular employee returns from medical leave of absence), Job #216-208-C, effective February 16, 2012. County will be the funding source.

Approved the transfer of Jason Wymer, .5 Custodian III/2, Beale Elementary, to Bus Operator, Job #014-150-C, effective February 16, 2012 (this is to fill a medical leave of absence until regular employee returns). County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Paul Smith, Karl Zielke, Timothy Mullins, and Mitchell Smith, as substitute bus operators (pending successful completion of state competency tests) for the 2011-12 school year. Ratified the action of the Superintendent to suspend Employee #11/12-06, Aide, Point Pleasant Primary School, without pay January 18 and January 19, 2012. Approved medical leave for Sandra Thomas, Custodian, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, for a maximum of 12 weeks leave.

Extracurricular personnel:

Accepted the resignation of Daniel Tench, Jr High Head Baseball Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective immediately. Accepted the resignation of Adam Watson, Jr High Football Coach, Wahama Jr/Sr High, effective immediately. Accepted the resignation of Leslie Stepp, Cheerleading Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective immediately. Approved the employment of Gary Turner, Assistant Jr High Football Coach, Hannan Jr/Sr High, (pending WVSSAC certification), Job # 205-005-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Matthew VanMeter, Head Varsity Volleyball Coach, Wahama Jr/Sr High (pending WVSSAC certification), Job #503-231-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.

Approved the employment of Andrew Burns, Jr High Football Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job # 502-111-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Andrew Burns, Head Varsity Girls Track Coach, Hannan Jr/Sr High, Job #501-019-S, for the 2011-12 school year (Medical Leave of Absence for one year only), effective February 15, 2012. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Bridget Swisher-Bush, Cheerleading Coach, Hannan Jr/Sr High, Job #501-022-S, effective February 15, 2012, for the 2011-12 school year. Approved the employment of Christopher Errett, Jr High Head Soccer Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certiflcation), Job # 502-140-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.

Approved the employment of Jeromy Williams, Girls Assistant Varsity Track Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, (pending WVSSAC and WVDE certification), Job #502-152.5-S, for the 2011-12 school year. Point Pleasant High School will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Zachary Sayre, Jr. High Assistant Soccer Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, (pending WVSSAC and WVDE Certification, Job #502-140-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Brian Booth, Head Jr High Football Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High (pending WVSSAC and WVDE certification), Job #502-108-S, effective 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source.

Approved Brian King, Michael Porter, and Ronald Wickline, Athletic Assistants, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, (pending WVSSAC certification), Job #502-161-S, for the 2011-12 school year. This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Approved the employment of Amy Shriver, Head Varsity Volleyball Coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, Job #502-154-S, for the 2012-13 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Hugh Burris, Maintenance Mentor, Central Office Itinerant, Job # 001-049-C, effective February 16, 2012, for 2011-12 school year.

Finances:

Approved the ratification of orders issued, transfers, and supplements, Check #78550 thru 78606 and #78611 thru 78766, totaling $1.8 million.

Attending the meeting were Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, and board members Michael Cottrill, Thomas Nunnery, Randy Searls, and Dale Shobe. Board member Matthew Thompson was absent.
