POINT PLEASANT — More help for those struggling with drug addiction will arrive on Sunday when representatives of Karen’s Place, a faith-based addiction recovery program, visits Main Street Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The program begins at 6:30 p.m.,with those in recovery sharing testimonies, leading worship and singing in praise. The program will last around an hour, and there is no cost to attend. An offering will be taken with all proceeds benefiting Karen’s Place to cover traveling and other expenses.

Karen’s Place, in Louisa, Ky., seeks to combine faith-based principles with clinical treatment best practices when it comes to alcohol and drug addition, specifically for women. Getting the clients/residents out to share their testimonies is part of the treatment plan.

Karen’s Place has a mission statement which includes a commitment to provide hope and freedom to young women suffering from addictions; to restore these women to productive lives through a recovery program that establishes emotional health, physical wellness and spiritual growth; to see transformed lives of women anchored in strong family relationships, meaningful careers and social responsibility.

Karen’s Place, an accredited Teen Challenge Center using the national recovery model they have developed over the past 50 years, has a goal of helping residents establish chemical-free lifestyles in connection with issues they identify as life-controlling and to recognize that these skills and tools are transferable to future problems and challenges they will face.

Residents also work on overcoming rebellion and the self-destructive behaviors associated with their substance abuse and developing positive life skills. Residents participate in spiritual growth activities, individual counseling, and choir. Karen’s Place puts a focus on helping residents develop a spiritual life that provides inner-strength and a foundation for lasting recovery.

The different programs offered at Karen’s Place are ultimately designed to help women find freedom from life-controlling issues.
