POINT PLEASANT — On Tuesday evening, members of the Mason County School Board approved three Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) presentations for area schools.
Presentations were given on Leon Elementary School, Point Pleasant Intermediate School, and Point Pleasant Jr./Sr. High School. According to the West Virginia Department of Education, LSIC exist at every public school in West Virginia, and consist of teachers, service personnel, bus drivers, parents, business and community representatives. It is the job of the LSIC to yearly review discipline data and procedures and to submit written recommendations to the local school board.
The board is also updated on aspects such as academics, athletics, school climate, facilities, needs, improvements, and recommendations. Following the presentations, board members were able to ask any questions, and they also acknowledged the presenters and the good work they have been doing.
