Russell Franklin Patterson, Sr., of Russell, Kentucky, and formerly of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, passed away March 5, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born July 26, 1934, in Guyandotte, West Virginia, to the late Virgil Jefferson Patterson, Sr. and Ruth Rood Patterson. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as Chief, Corps of Engineers-Huntington. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Leonard; siblings, Virgil Patterson, Jr., Virginia Enice Ferguson, Enia Elizabeth Knowles, Samuel Lewis Patterson, Herbert Jennings Patterson, Wallace Lee Patterson, Margaret Naomi Woomer and Samuel Lee Patterson.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years, Linda Huffman; sons, Russell F. (Kelly) Patterson, Jr., and Timothy Sean (beth) Patterson; daughter, Vickie (Larry) Patterson Akers and Kelli L. (Mark) Horner; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil J. Patterson, III; and sister, Erma Ruth Patterson Brewer, all of who loved him very much and will miss him dearly.

Burial was held March 8, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky. A special memorial was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 10, 2012, in Russell, Kentucky.
