GLENWOOD — The mystery of the identity of the man found floating in the Ohio River at Glenwood remains unsolved.
On Tuesday, Sgt. E.B. Starcher with the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police said the body is still being identified by the state medical examiner in Charleston. Starcher said until that body is positively identified, no further speculation or statements can be made.
News media outlets in Huntington are speculating some law enforcement personnel in Lawrence County, Ohio believe the man could be James Alan Lawson of Proctorville, Ohio. Lawson has been missing since April 28.
It’s been reported Lawson was supposed to meet with someone who may have been interested in buying a car he was selling but that didn’t happen and Lawson’s car was later found abandoned on James River Road in Huntington.
The discovery of the body was made around 7 p.m., Sunday by a woman walking along the Ohio River in Glenwood. It’s also being reported by various media outlets the body had been in the water for some time, but again, just who that body belongs to remains up for speculation until it is positively identified.
