Frances Stone, 61, of Ashton, originally from Point Pleasant, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Emogene Hospice House in Huntington, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born December 7, 1950, in Mason County, a daughter to the late Jack and Emma Frances Scarberry. She was an homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Van Stone; and two sons, Richard Wayne Staats, and David Michael Staats.

She is survived by one son, Charles “Charlie” E. Staats III; grandsons, Michael Anthony Staats, Matthew Cory Staats; granddaughter, Dakota (Kate) Mayes; two brothers, Charles “Buster” Scarberry and Bruce and (Missy) Scarberry; as well as several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Ron Robertson, and many more.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in the Henderson Cemetery, with Jake and Martha McCartney officiating.
