On a recent morning I was watching a little neighbor get on the school bus when an SUV paid no heed to the flashing lights of the bus that was stopped. It continued on its way past the stopped bus and the traffic behind it. It did not slow down after the bus driver blew the horn and made arm motions that even I heard and saw from the building next door. I was thankful that no child was crossing both lanes of traffic.
The bus driver, Bruce Hendrickson, should be applauded for being aware of what was going on around him so that he blew the horn, made motions and looked in his side mirror to get the license of the vehicle.
We sometimes forget the awesome responsibility that a bus driver has, and we need to thank them more often. Bruce deserves special recognition for a job well done.
Sincerely,
