Magic Years Daycare breaks ground on new facility

POINT PLEASANT — A staple childcare provider for Mason County for many years, the staff and students of Magic Years Daycare broke ground on Tuesday for their new expansion and remodeling project.
It was reported this new expansion project will add over 3,500 square feet to the current Magic Years building, with new amenities including a new kitchen, cafeteria, indoor activity area, new restrooms, private classrooms by age, two separate age appropriate playgrounds, a speech and compute lab and a state of the art security system.
“We are very excited about this much anticipated project,” said Magic Years owners Robin Blas and David Jenkins.
In addition to the staff and the students of Magic Years breaking ground, Point Pleasant Mayor Brian Billings also stopped by to pitch in.
“It’s wonderful to celebrate a business expansion in our city,” Billings said.
Doing the expansion and remodeling work will be FOX Engineering / FOX Construction of Ripley, and the project will reportedly be done in stages, which will allow the students to still attend during construction. The first stage of the project actually began last month with the addition of a temporary pre-school trailer. The second stage will involve the construction of the 3,500 square foot addition, followed by the remodeling of the current building.
“It is imperative that we expand to meet the needs of the changing daycare and pre-school environment,” Blas said.
Located at 201 High Street in Point Pleasant, Magic Years Daycare first opened its doors on Sept. 6, 1986, and is reportedly now serving second generations of children. Magic Years Daycare provides care for children from six weeks to 12 years of age, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In addition to their other children, it was stated 20 pre-school age children are currently enrolled in the County Sponsored Cooperative “Pre-K” program at Magic Years. It was also stated Magic Years also has one of the most active after school and summer programs in the area, and are also accepting applications for winter enrollment.
