POINT PLEASANT — The area now has another title up for grabs.

This Saturday will mark the area’s inaugural Miss and Mister TNT Pageant. The pageant is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will take place at the American Legion in Point Pleasant.

According to Delyssa Huffman, pageant director, she decided to create the TNT pageant as an effort to help fund the Miss Mothman Festival Pageant.

“Last year was the very first year for the Miss Mothman Festival Pageant. We had 58 girls all together and it was a huge success. This year the pageant is growing and we are crowning seven queens and two princesses,” Huffman said. “To help with the funds for this year, I decided to hold yet another pageant that would help raise money — that is how Miss and Mister TNT came about.”

She added that they selected the TNT pageant theme because that is where legend says Mothman is from. In addition, the Miss and Mister TNT pageant is specifically geared toward younger contestants ages 2-12 and features a boys division. The pageant will conclude with the crowning of five queens: Wee Miss, Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Young Miss, Junior Miss, and one king: Little Mister.

The queens will receive their entry fee paid to compete in the 2009 Miss Mothman Festival Pageant, slated for Sept. 19, and all the Miss contestants will receive $5 off their entry fee.

“We would love to have all of our TNT contestants compete for (the title of Miss Mothman Festival Queen), too,” Huffman said.

Huffman also encouraged members of the community to support the pageant.

“Everyone should come see the very first TNT queens and TNT king be crowned. Our queens will go on to compete for a Miss Mothman title ... Our contestants would love to have the town of Point Pleasant cheering them on,” she said.
