Rodney William McComas, 66, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in a Fort Worth, Texas hospital after a short illness.

Formerly of Glenwood, he graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1963 and was a very proud member of the Point Pleasant High School Band. He was an Aircraft Assembler at Lockheed-Martin. Born Dec. 27, 1945, in Cabell County, he was preceded in death by his parents, George W. McComas and Opal Starkey McComas, and a nephew, William Eugene “Billy” Cobb.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jennine Mischelle Bertelsman McComas of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Tesha Lynn Ferguson and Kent Ferguson, Jill Ann Backus and Stephen Backus; one son and a daughter-in-law, Rodney William “Will” McComas, Jr. and Samantha Lear McComas, all of Burleson, Texas; and one stepson, Scott Nicholas Bertelsman of Bevelle, Ill.; seven grandsons, Garret Ray Ferguson, Nathan Rodney Ferguson, Patrick Carl Ferguson, Cody Alan Backus, Logan Allen Backus, Ethan Vincent Hogan, Riley Glen Hogan, all at home; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue McComas Cobb and Charles E. Cobb of Milton and Patty Lu Holley of Proctorville, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael David McComas and Brenda Joy Wroten McComas of Glenwood; three nieces, one nephew, four great nieces, and six great nephews, five great great nieces, one great great nephew, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by one very special friend, Manford Bauer of Point Pleasant.

An informal memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Red Men Lodge Hall on Ohio River Road, just outside Huntington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a charity of one’s choice.
