HEMLOCK, Ohio — The Wahama boys basketball team continues to struggle in the Buckeye State, as the White Falcons fell to 1-8 overall in Ohio contests Friday night following a 62-44 setback to host Miller in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division matchup in Perry County.

The White Falcons (7-11, 6-9 TVC Hocking) managed to keep things competitive for three quarter of play, as the guests trailed by just four points headed into the finale. The host Falcons, however, made a 19-5 surge down the stretch, which allowed Miller to claim a season sweep in the head-to-head series.

MHS (9-12, 9-6), with the triumph, claimed a season sweep after posting a 52-42 win at Wahama back on January 11. The White Falcons — whose only win in Ohio came at Waterford — have also dropped three of their last four decisions.

Miller jumped out to a small 15-12 advantage after eight minutes of play, but WHS responded with a small 11-10 second quarter spurt that allowed the guests to pull within 25-23 at the intermission. Miller extended its lead out to two possessions with an 18-16 third quarter run, giving the hosts a 43-39 edge headed into the fourth.

Trenton Gibbs and Hunter Bradley both led Wahama with 16 points apiece, followed by Wyatt Zuspan with six markers. Jacob Ortiz was next with three points, while Hunter Rose and Derek Hysell rounded out the respective scoring with two points and one marker.

Wahama made just one trifecta in the setback and was also 15-of-22 at the free throw line for 68 percent.

Elijah Rader paced Miller with a game-high 20 points, followed by Skylar Hook with 15 points and Hunter Starlin with 14 markers. MHS made five trifectas and also went 15-of-20 at the charity stripe for 75 percent.
