POINT PLEASANT — Spring must be on its way because the 44th installment of the Black Knight Revue is scheduled for next weekend on March 8-10 at Point Pleasant Junior/Senior High School in the Wedge Auditorium.

The theme for this year’s revue is “Radio BKR” and is a celebration of popular radio hits - from more contemporary artists like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars, to classics by Pat Benatar and Paul McCartney.

Jeff Hilbert, director of the Point Pleasant High School Black Knight Band, said this year the revue has some new bells and whistles. The band recently received a grant from the Robert and Louise Claflin Foundation for purchasing new lighting, keyboards, amplification and a drum shield.

Visitors to the revue will benefit from this new equipment in the pit and the new stage lighting which includes more hazers for the lasers to create a misting or fog effect. There’s also newer, bigger and more powerful black lights on stage. This year’s revue is definitely high tech.

On Friday, Hilbert and PPJHS Band Director Ben Loudin, along with Jessica Loudin and countless volunteers were hard at work getting costumes ready, tweaking the sound and running through the numbers. These rehearsals will continue all the way until showtime next weekend.

Show times are 7 p.m., Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 and 3 p.m., Sunday, March 10. Advance tickets for the revue are on sale at all local banks in Point Pleasant, the office of Bill Park, DDS and Fruth’s Pharmacy. Advance tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for students. Tickets will be on sale at the door on show days at a price of $7 for adults, $5 for students.

Hilbert said the show will have something for everyone with hits from countless genres, including broadway, jazz, pop, rock, country, Latin and patriotic numbers.

A reminder about Sunday’s show, it falls on the same day as Daylight Saving Time so remember to set those clocks ahead and get to the show on time.

(Editor’s note: More photos from the revue will run next week prior to opening night.)
