Reader’s View: Rights — Proposed cell phone ban is unfair

Dear Editor,

This letter is regarding the bill to ban cell phone usage in vehicles that just passed our right-taking Legislature.

OK — what about people who have screaming kids in the car who are throwing sippie cups at them? Or, oh my gosh, the hungry person eating a hamburger? Don’t change the radio station either!

This is just ridiculous. There will always be people who are not driving safely, but this law will not prevent that from happening. There are laws already on the books for this — it’s called reckless driving. It will punish those sensible folks who will follow the law just because it is a law, and those are the ones who are driving safely anyway.

America better wake up to the right-taking that is going on before you can’t walk down the street without a helmet — you know, for your protection.

Sincerely,

Michele Starcher,

Clifton
