She was a retired florist. She was an active member of the Mason United Methodist Church, in which she served various positions, and the United Methodist Women. She was an Avon representative for many years, served as Apple Butter Chief and was a member of the Sunshine Club and Bells and Bows Square Dance Club.
Born Sept. 7, 1937 in Mason, she was the daughter of the late Hoy H. Roush and Virginia (Lee) Roush.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, James R. Proffitt of Mason; daughters, Terri (Rick) Dye of Uniontown, Ohio, and Angela (Chuck) Stanley Jr. of Mason; grandchildren, Kristin Dye, Andrea Dye, Heath (Tabitha) Stanley and Heather Stanley; special granddaughter, Sarah Stamper; mother-in-law, Evelyn Proffitt of Mason; sister, Etta M. Richardson of New Haven; brother, Robert “Bob” (Agnes) Roush of Mason; sisters-in-law, Nancy Proffitt of Mason and Sally (Bob) McBride of Valparaiso, Ind.; niece, Chris (Donnie) Stamper of Mason; nephew, Mike Richardson of Wellston, Ohio; nephew, Greg (Kim) Roush of Mason; niece, Alicia (John) Jacobs of Puerto Rico; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30 at Mason United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Knowlton officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Graham Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Foglesong Tucker Funeral Home in Mason.
