She was born Sept. 13, 1913 in Mason County to the late Karl and Alice Campbell Bletner. She received her BA and Master’s Degree in Education from Marshall University and another BA Degree in Elementary Education from Concord State College. She was a retired Educator from the Mason County School System, a member of the Zion Baptist Church and the Women Missionary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Hereford and brother, J. Karl Bletner.
She is survived by her son, George and (Cathy) Hereford of Southside; daughter, Carolyn C. Cogar of Gallipolis, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael and (Dawn) Cogar of Gallipolis, Ohio, Christina A. Cogar of Gallipolis, Ohio, Lanny Tyree of Point Pleasant, Jennifer and (Shannon) Hanning of Point Pleasant and Benjamin J. Hoffner of West Point, Ga.; great grandsons, Casey Tyree and Andrew Tyree, both of New Haven, Quinten J. Hanning and Ethan Hanning, both of Point Pleasant; and great granddaughter, Annabelle Rose Hanning of Point Pleasant, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16 at Deal Funeral Home with Jake Rainey officiating. Entombment will be in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens located in Barboursville.
