POINT PLEASANT — With Veteran’s Day quickly approaching, several events and activities are being planned to honor local veterans.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Fruth Pharmacy will be celebrating Veteran’s Day by offering 10 percent discounts on store purchases to veterans and active military personnel. In addition, all veterans will receive a free patriotic-themed gift and will have the opportunity to register to win a patriotic gift basket.

According to Lynne Fruth, chairman of the Fruth board, this is the first time that Fruth Pharmacy has held this type of celebration for veterans.

“Each one of our 25 stores are doing their own thing. This will be a day for veterans and their families to come shop,” she said. “I think that this area in both West Virginia and Ohio has such a history of having so many people in the military that have faithfully served the country. Locally, it is important that we don’t forget the sacrifices that they have made.”

During the celebration, Fruth stores will offer refreshments as well as have various displays. According to Fruth, each Fruth Pharmacy is doing something different to honor veterans.

“This is our way to reach out to families who may have husbands on activity duty. It is an opportunity to meet other veterans and to have fellowship,” she said.

The 10 percent discount does not apply to purchases of prescriptions, alcohol and tobacco products. For more information on the Veteran’s Day celebration, contact your local Fruth Pharmacy.
