POINT PLEASANT — Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta Queen Summer Searls recently hosted a Queen’s Brunch.

The event, which took place on Oct. 10, had more than 40 girls between the ages of five and eight in attendance. Also on hand were some of the Disney Princesses, including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella and Jasmine. River Princess Katherine Deem also attended the brunch.

Searls described the event as going very well.

“(The brunch) was a total success. The girls were very excited. I felt like they were making memories that they would never forget,” she said. “You would have thought it was Christmas by the looks in their eyes.”

Several games were played during the Queen’s Brunch and food was served. In addition, each young lady that attended received a prize and a memory book. According to Searls, she came up with the idea to host the brunch for a similar event that the 2007 Regatta Queen, Candy Bonecutter, did during her reign.

“I decided to do this idea mostly for the little girls. I know if I were still little that day would have been amazing...I would definitely help next year’s queen do this same project again,” Searls said.

The Queen’s Brunch is one of the many projects that Searls has organized during her reign as Regatta Queen. In August, she put together a backpack drive for all Mason County students. As for her upcoming projects, Searls said that she is in the process of organizing a Caroling Queens event in December.
