Regan Cottrill, center, was crowned 2010 Miss Point Pleasant’s Oustanding Teen on Saturday, Jan. 16. Also pictured are first runner-up Michaela Drummond, left, and second runner-up Morgan Watterson, right. Cottrill will now compete in the state pageant held in Morgantown in June.
“I am so excited when I heard my name called as the very first Miss Point Pleasant’s Outstanding Teen because of the journey that lies ahead of me,” Cottrill, 16, said.
Cottrill was crowned by Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen Jackie Riggleman.
Cottrill also won the Private Interview Preliminary Award.
The queen’s prize package consisted of the official crown and sash, sponsored by Deal Funeral Home, a trophy, crown box, Royal Queen’s Package including autograph cards, personalized labels, and a photo shoot, sponsored by Picture Perfect Productions. She also will receive a scholarship upon graduation from the organization.
Other pageant sponsors included the Mason County Library, The Iron Gate Grille, Subway, Village, and the Holiday Inn of Gallipolis, Ohio.
The pageant directors would also like to thank the judges who volunteered their time to help with the pageant and all of the visiting royalty who attended.
From now until June, Cottrill will prepare for the Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen pageant in Morgantown. She will also maked appearances throughout the county at events, festivals and other pageants.
“I am looking forward to promoting my platform throughout the community,” Cottrill said.
She also is looking forward to the state competition.
Cottrill’s platform is Teens Against Violence. She sang “Sky Full of Angels” for her talent presentation.
Michaela Drummond, 13, daughter of Danielle Drummond of Point Pleasant, received first runner up in addition to winning the Evening Gown Preliminary Award.
Morgan Watterson, 14, daughter of Rusty and Donna Watterson of Apple Grove, was named the second runner up, winner of the On-Stage Interview Award, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Congeniality.
Other preliminary award winners and contestants included: Lifestyle and Physical Fitness in Sportswear, Kaylee Dunn; Talent, Deeanna Sayre, and Jonna Hall.
The pageant directors both said they are very excited about helping to prepare Cottrill for the state level and look forward their year with the very first queen.
“I believe that this is a huge honor,” Cottrill said. “I get to represent the town that I have grown up in and I will represent it to the best of my ability.”
This preliminary pageant is apart of the Miss America Scholarship Organization which is the leading scholarship provider for young women in America.
