Gail was born October 24, 1921, in Gallipolis, Ohio, a daughter of the late Mary Rebecca Chick Harrison and Clyde Harrison. She graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1939. During WWII, she worked for the Department of the Navy in Point Pleasant as secretary to the officer in charge of the Depot for 17 years. She continued her career as secretary tot he Superintendent of the Gallipolis Developmental Center for 22 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Bidwell United Methodist Church and loved it there. While at home, she enjoyed bird watching and her lap friend, Rams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. “Buster” Sprague in 1995; and a sister, Norma Berry in 1998.
She is survived by a close nephew, Charles (Amy) Powell of Gallipolis, Ohio; nephews, John (Betsy) Carter of Leonardtown, Md., and James Carter of Racine, Ohio, as well as other nephews and several nieces; special niece, Karen Sprague of Bidwell, Ohio; and special cousin, Helen Russell of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 11, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home-Wetherholt Chapel located at 420 First Avenue in Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Larry Cheesebrew officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
