ASHTON — Firefighters with the Valley Volunteer Fire Department recently visited with students at Ashton Elementary School.

Books about fire trucks, including “Curious George and the Firefighters,” were read to the students in grades Pre-K through first grade. Students also were able to see the fire trucks along with the equipment that firefighters use.

In addition, students were given a description of what firefighters do at fires and other emergencies.
