The community Good Friday service will begin at noon at the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Charles Marker, a member of the ministerial association, stressed that the service is open to anyone.
“The Good Friday service is something we’ve been doing for several years. It is a community effort. People of all denominations are invited,” Marker said.
Rev. Mark Morrow will be the speaker for this year’s service. Morrow has been the chaplain at the Lakin Correctional Facility for Women for the past seven years. He received his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a BA degree. He also earned a master’s degree in pastoral counseling at the Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio. Morrow was ordained in 1964, and has been involved in pastoral ministry for more than 20 years.
Other members of the ministerial association will take part in the service as well. The ministerial association has held weekly lenton luncheons throughout the lenton season. Each luncheon has featured a different speaker. According to Marker, the luncheons have had good attendance.
“Everyone seems to enjoy them,” Marker said.
