MASON — Area anglers will have the opportunity to participate in one of the largest catfish tournaments east of the Mississippi with this Saturday’s 20th annual Bend Area C.A.R.E. Catfish Tournament.

The tournament will take place on the Gallipolis Pool of the Ohio River at the Mason Levy. The event will begin at 7 a.m., and participants must be registered by 6:30 a.m. Weigh-ins will take place at 3:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony to follow.

Family activities also will take place during the tournament. Children’s events, which includes casting contests, watermelon eating contests and a frog jump, will kick off at 1 p.m. Bounce houses for children will be available as well.

Tournament proceeds will benefit C.A.R..E.’s Kids for Christmas program, which provides local children with a Christmas. Bend Area C.A.R.E., which stands for Community Assistance and Relief for Everyone, also works to help Mason County families and individuals in need.
