Bessie Marie Langen Thomas, 74, of Southside, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was a retired homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Myrtle (Dowell) Thomas; a brother, Homer Thomas; and her husband, Arlie A. Powers.

Bessie is survived by her children, Wilbur Gene Powers of Gallipolis, Ohio; Clyde Franklin Powers of Huntington; Sherry and (Junior) Barr of Proctorville, Ohio, and Pamela Rose Lewis of Southside; brothers, Eddie and (Jo) Thomas of Mich., Clyde and (Dorothy) Thomas of Mich., Dexter and (Carolyn) Thomas of Mich., Donald and (Sam) Thomas of Gallipolis Ferry, Roy and (Trudy) Thomas of Mich., and Dave and (Rosie) Thomas of Gallipolis Ferry; sisters, Pauline Hamilton of Circleville, Ohio, Lee and (Dave) Sullivian of Fla., Edna Dexter of Mich., Bonnie and (Grey) Mason of Milton, and Minerza Wray of Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Canada of Charleston, Jason Powers of Huntington, James Rose of Point Pleasant, and Truffles and (Robbie) Weethee of Southside; seven great grandchildren, with another soon to arrive; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at Deal Funeral Home with Rev. Bert Flora officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Southside. Friends may call two hours before the service at the funeral home.
