During the meeting, several bids and contracts were approved, as well as a list of personnel for the 2010-2011 school year.
The board approved the following list of contracts: Occupational Therapy Assistant between the Mason County Board of Education and Erica Saunders, funding source will be Special Education; and Marshall University, Dual Credit Instructors Mark Bowen, Timothy Roush, David Rutherford and Hillary Weible and the Mason County Board of Education.
The board approved the following list of agreements: Magic Years Day Care Center and the Mason County Board of Education; Prestera Center for Mental Health Services, Inc. and the Mason County Board of Education; and Early Education Station and the Mason County Board of Education.
The board approved the following list of bids: bakery products from Heiner’s Bakery for the Child Nutrition Department; milk products from Broughton Food for the Child Nutrition Department; US Food Service for food and non-food products for the Child Nutrition Department; and Ecolab for chemical products used in dishwashing machines for the Child Nutrition Department.
The board also approved the only submitted bids from the following: Allied Waste Services for sanitation services for all Mason County Schools (except Leon Elementary) for $4,551.52 per month. Funding provided by the Excess Levy; and E&L Inc. for sanitation services for Leon Elementary for $248.62 per month. Funding provided by the Excess Levy.
Employment:
The board approved the following list for employment for the 2010-2011 school year: Kelli Elliot, Teacher, Social Studies, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School; Beverly Pickens, Teacher, LD/MI/BD, Leon Elementary; Kathryn Perry, Coach, Varsity Cheerleading, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School; Shelia Fields, EDGE Duel Credit Facilitator, Central Office Itinerant; Doug Sturgeon, one-on-one services, Alternative Education Program; and William Capehart, one-on-one services, Alternative Education Program.
The board approved the following substitute teachers for the 2010-2011 school year: Markita Duke, Rosemary Vickers, Irene Murphy, Barbara Williams and Bryan Hoffman.
The board approved the resignation of Amber Cottrill, Literacy Coordinator, Ashton Elementary.
The board approved the following list of transfers: Betina Leslie, Teacher, LD/MI/BD, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High School to Teacher, Grade 3, Beale Elementary; and Sherry McDaniel, Bus Operator Route 963 to Bus Operator Route 2085.
Other approvals:
The board approved the following list of resident requests: James Kent for his child, Amber Kent to attend school in Cabell County; Kathryn Marsh, for her child, Morgan Marsh to attend school in Jackson County; Dwayne and Lisa Baker for their child, Jamie Baker to attend school in Jackson County; and Tabatha Brown for her child Kelsie Brown to attend school in Putnam County.
The board approved the following list of non-resident requests: James Wells for his child, Sara Bickley to attend school in Mason County; and Kathy and Robert Young for their children, Katlyn, Allie and Dakota Young.
The board approved Possum’s Muffler Brake and Tire Shop, J.E. Stephens Farm Equipment, the Point Pleasant River Museum, and Dale Nibert Farm as Work Based Learning businesses.
The board approved Dianne Clark as School Site Manager for Roosevelt Elementary.
The board approved Don Bower as mentor for a school principal.
