POINT PLEASANT — Residents will certainly have a lot of activities to choose from this weekend as both the Battle Days Festival and Country Fall Festival are slated to take place.

In addition, those looking to get in some exercise will have the opportunity to do so as well. The Sixth Annual Lions Run for Sight event will take place on Saturday morning in downtown Point Pleasant.

The race will begin at 9 a.m., with registration scheduled for 7-8:45 a.m. behind Foodland. Run participants may choose to do either the 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles) course. According to race organizers, both courses are flat with one slight down grade and run on city streets through scenic Point Pleasant. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third overall male and female finishers. Awards also will be given to the first and second place finisher for both male and female age groups. Age groups are: 19 and under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; and 65 and up. A “middle of pack runners award” also will be presented at the race’s conclusion.

T-shirts will be available to first 200 participants entered. Results of both the 5K and 10K will be posted after the race. According to run organizers, all proceeds generated from the event will go toward the purchase of eye glasses for those in need.
