Robert E. Chapman, age 64, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington, N.C.

He was born on April 7, 1948, the son of the late Lewis Chapman and Zelma Griffis Chapman. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Chapman, Lewis Chapman, Jr. and Harold Gene Chapman.

Mr. Chapman attended Barefoot Church in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was a member of the Toastmasters Club of Shallotte, a member of BNI of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, N.C. He was a residential home builder, real estate broker and home inspector.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Barbara J. Chapman; a daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband, Oliver of West Columbia, S.C.; a son, Zachary Chapman of Little River, S.C.; a brother, Joe Chapman of Glenwood; two sisters, Mary Bland of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Evelyn Chapman of Huntington; two grandchildren, Riley and Sidney Moore; and beloved pet “Missy.”

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, in Shallotte, N.C.

The family will receive family and friends from 10 a.m. until noon, prior to the service at the funeral home.
